Everybody at Scribe has been deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Georgia Blain. Georgia, who was the author of an acclaimed body of work that includes fiction and memoir, died on Friday, a few days before her 52nd birthday.
Georgia’s editor, Marika Webb-Pullman, said, ‘Georgia was a wonderful person, as well as a wonderful writer. The warmth, intelligence, insight, and empathy so evident in all of her writing also characterised Georgia herself, and everyone at Scribe who had the pleasure of working with her over the last few years will miss her very much.’
Scribe feels honoured to have published Georgia. Our thoughts and condolences are with all those who loved her, especially her partner, Andrew, her daughter, Odessa, and her brother Joshua.
